The lane was night-dark even at noon... the wind was blowing through the trees... silence in the air. End of the world?, global warming?, it just didn't make sense. Windows closed, fear in their eyes the people of earth had never seen anything like it. I heard the faint, crackling sound of the radio “breaking...news....all..sch..ools cl..osed for the day”. “mother?” unfortunately mother had already left for work I now had 2 younger brothers wondering what we were going to do. I could see the blankness in their eyes but their appearance was if to say “ I am not scared, I am the new head of the house “   We have just experienced the trauma of losing a loved one who loved us, a treasure, a friend, a Father. silence now filled our house nothing but the bellowing sound of the wind, thunder and rain. “ im hungry.. get me something to eat” moaned my brother. “do you mind... use your brain and get something yourself, how old are you? seven c’mon” I never usually talked like that but the events that were happening made the sentences sound depressing .6:00 and mother had not arrived yet. “ there happy” “yummy, thanks”. “ i'm going to find mum” my brother said he had just turned 9 . “ if you walk out that door i'm gonna...”.
