My BIG Journey

“Mum, seriously, I’ll be fine,” I called out as she slowly faded away into the distance. It was my birthday and I was going on my first camp, in the jungle, alone. I live with my mum, and my only friend, Jacob. Jacob is our dog, and he loves the outdoors. Dad passed away when I was six, but I’ve gotten used to it. Anyway, back to the trip.

I reached the jungle, and smelt the fresh, cool,   air up my nose, then, I smelt danger. It was a Cayman was hiding in the nearby river. It was so close I could smell its deadly breath. Then I saw my only chance, a large piece of thick bamboo twice the size of tiny me. So to save my entire life, I grabbed the bamboo, started to sprint towards the gigantic beast, and pole-vaulted over him before he could take a bite out of my flesh.

After that, I started to run. I ran, and ran, and ran, until, I came to a big clearance. A humungous meadow in the middle of the jungle .Why hadn’t anyone found it before me? I don’t know. But all I knew was it was the perfect place to camp in the jungle.

Shake! Shiver! Crash!
It was the 22nd of February 2011 and I was a in a bike race at bottle lake forest with 29 other people. My mum was there supporting me. It seemed gloomy like there were ghosts in the forest but that does not matter all I want is to win.

I got in my spot and then the buzzer goes with a big BANG! My mum yell louder than a baby crying go! Go! Go! All of us race of but luckily I was coming first I felt like super hero. Then suddenly zoom! Another racer comes racing past and all the proudness sunk, sunk like a rock at the bottom of a lake. I try to go as fast as a wining race car maybe even faster I sped up and up and then bam! I’m coming first again all and I mean all the proudness came back.

The forest came it was dark it was gloomy but kept on going skid here, skid there, I was skidding everywhere and all the dust came back to the other bikers so that made a huge lead to me. Duck! Branch! That thick wide branch sticking out of the tree could of took me flying like a bird off my bike.

I’m finally out of the gloomy ghostly dark trees and all the other bikers are still in dark ghostly gloomy trees. I turn the skinny but long corner and see the finish line I scream out “YES! YES!” then Shake! Shiver! Crash! EARTHQUAKE! I came flying off my bike as if I were a plane and black-out on the bike track.

I woke up with a yawn the size of an elephant that yawn hurt so did breathing, but I saw a doctor glaring at me he said with his smile up size down “you have broken your leg and your ribs which leads to the most sad part is you will never be able to bike for 12 months just to make sure I am so sorry” I yell out so the whole world can heir me “NOOO!” it hurts to say that, but it felt good. The doctor blocks his ears by the screech of my voice. My mum comes in and said “what was that!” I said with a down face “sorry, ouch.”

Six weeks later I was let out of the hospital and felt horrible lonely and left out I hated the it. I wanted to hop on my bike so bad my ribs were fine according to me, so that’s what I did I hopped straight on my bike and it felt good I felt free and alive. My ribs felt great and in the end I entered another bike race three weeks later and won.

The Otematata Trip

On Monday the Mackenzies and my family went to Otematata. First we went to the kennels in Kaiapoi to drop off the dogs. Next we hopped back into the car and drove for about 4 hours to Otematata when we got there it was raining hard it was like bullets shooting from the sky. All the children raced towards our caravan while the adults put up the gazebo. In the morning we all went outside to have breakfast after half an hour or so the children and me sprinted to our parents and asked if we could ride down the rapids they said “Yes”. After that we had lunch it was pikelets YUM then the Christies and Mark and Caroline arrived then we went on the jet skis and the biscuit. After that we had sausages on the barbeque. The next day we had breakfast and went riding down the hill and done skids then we visited Papa Lez he gave us pineapple lumps, roses, chocolates and lots more. Then it started to rain we went inside and played a game of cranium brain breaks and read Harry Potter books (Franklin finished the series now). After that I played a game of check mate with Janelle. Then we had lunch and Ben ,Ryan, Maddie, Todd and Steve turned up we went down the rapids again and then we forced Spoon, Mark and Dad to go down the rapids with us they went down then tried to clean the buoys the current was so strong my dad was the only one who got halfway! Then we packed up to go home and left.
We all had a great time and hope to go back this year.

The Wrong Gear
It was the 20th of December when Ken and I went on a bike ride in the bottle lake forest. I was really excited because I never had been on the track be for

Ken had said to me earlier that there are big hills and slops. I didn’t believe him. We started slow but we had to pedal up a big hill followed by a big slop. “Ken was right” I ground. I speed up suddenly…    a bird’s nest with eggs in it on the track in front of me. I swerved off the track and in to the bush. I got up and picked my bike up and walked home Ken had bet me home he didn’t care I fell off my bike.

Mum saw how broses and scratched I was she had a fit at ken told him to never to do it again or I will never ride with him again. Then I finally got to sit down and relax.

Break out
It was a cold winter night I was sitting on a cold concrete bed behind bars in a cell that was so old moss and gooey fungus grew between the ancient walls. I decided it was go time I looked at the janitors’ ladder it had a strange metal glow under the light of the full moon. I grabbed the shinning ladder and pulled it through the rusting bars of my cell and leaned it against one of those ancient walls and pulled out the only weapon I had. I smashed through the closed window and slid down the roof sending a shower of old red tiles in my wake I raced to my red and purple bike witch was covered in rusty yellow chains I then pulled out a hair pin I kept in my hair and picked the dirty lock but before I left I checked everything was ok it was, I hopped on my bike did a kick start I was off. But….. I had just remembered the stupid dogs were on guard and I had nothing to defend myself with. Then suddenly I was being chased by giant rot welliers and huge great Danes small but tough bulldogs and hundreds more I zoomed through a dark ally the air whipped at my face as if to say go back go back but NO I kept going until I came to a black wall tall and hard and it was coming my way it was about fifty feet high was I going I hopped I was that’s when I saw a plank a huge long metal plank that just reached the top I aimed for it and whoosh I flew through the air like a torpedo then I stopped I was hanging in the air and next minute I was on the ground lying in pain I thought I broke every bone in my body but I was brave and I hopped back onto my dented bike and moving in little spurts I zoomed away into the still winter night. And I never saw that terrible place again!
