Sustainability
Welcome to Room 8's class blog. This page will be used to present samples of student learning to family and friends throughout the world. Please feel free to add constructive feedback to any student learning that is displayed on this page or feel free to add a comment to any of our class discussions. It would be great if as well as having students commenting we could get parents, siblings and other family members commenting and reflecting on the learning that we are doing in class.
This year our school is studying the idea of Sustainability. Please leave a comment below explaining what the word "Sustainability" means to you.
*Please do not forget to leave your name at the bottom of your comment. If no name is left then comments may not be published.
Dear Mr Creek,
ReplyDeleteI think Sustainability is something that goes on and on. Like the movie 'The Lorax' how they cut all the trees down without replanting. But they left 1 seed and planted it which started the sustainability all over again. If they did not plant the seed the trees would be gone for good. From Sophie Hamilton
Awesome Sophie you clearly already have a good understanding of sustainability.
DeleteDear Mr Creek, I think sustainability is the idea of something that can go on and on. The movie 'Happy Feet' is a good example of the sustainability of fish that penguins eat. The penguins had no fish to eat because humans were over fishing. So the penguins starved because the fish they ate were unsustainable. From Lucy
ReplyDeleteFantastic response Lucy, the example you have chosen from "Happy Feet" is perfect. Well done.
DeleteSustainability is something that goes on and on forever like the world that goes on and on forever.

hundreds of years ago people made houses out of kauri and rimu which take hundreds of years to grow they kept cutting down the trees but when the trees were all gone the people planted pine trees because they grow in thirty years.so now when all the pine trees from one forest go they go to the next forest and they replant as they go.

I think sustainability is when things keep getting replaced and dont run out. Like trees that get cut down to make paper are planted again so we will never run of trees or paper. By Laura
ReplyDeleteI think sustainability is like a coral reef.If one arm of a piece of coral came of i would take 9-10 years to grow back.Thats my whole life!If coral reefs disapear the fishes homes will go too.
